Customer due diligence – why does Ilmarinen ask questions?
In order to be able to provide you, our customer, the best service that takes your situation into consideration, we must know you. It is also important for us to be able to reach you when necessary.
Why do we ask?
Our customer due diligence information must be correct and up to date. We request certain information because, as an earnings-related pension insurance company, we are bound by many laws and regulations that aim, for example, to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
When you join us as a new customer, we ask you certain questions at the start of your customer relationship. After that, we will update the information at regular intervals. We collect customer due diligence information through an online questionnaire, in face-to-face meetings or over the phone.
What do we ask?
We must identify and know you as our customer, as well as your representative. We require sufficient information about, for example, the owners and beneficial owners, the nature and scope of the business and financial position of our corporate clients. Beneficial owner means, in addition to the owners, the persons that otherwise exercise control in the corporation.
We also need to establish whether our customers include politically exposed persons (PEP), their family members or close business partners.
